Garden help urgently needed

Willing helpers, please continue to come to the club on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings for the next couple of weeks and help weed the north border garden.

Mary Stevens and helpers are recreating this garden bed so that it is less work in the future, while still looking good and providing some shelter.

Can you please continue to come along at the usual GC times on Tuesday and Thursday, and help prepare the bed for replanting.

Bring gloves and a spade/weeder. Keep clear of any Council lawn work in progress, and clear of parking in front of the mower shed door.

Emails about membership renewals

If you have not yet renewed your membership online for 2023/24, expect an email soon from the club's membership system, asking you to confirm your details. This is a secure private and individual link, and is safe.

In the online form we need you to confirm whether or not you permit your name, email address, and phone number to be included in a print-only directory that the club will produce exclusively for members - as agreed at our last AGM earlier this year.

If you would like me to renew on your behalf, email me at the address below and tell me your preference for inclusion in the booklet.

Coming up

Expect another update or two in the coming weeks. We will confirm the details of the First Aid refresher course Pam Fuller is organising and confirming the start of summer play.

Don't forget the 110th birthday lunch that we are holding on our Summer Opening Day. All members are invited to lunch at the club rooms on Saturday 16 September, starting at 12.30 pm for drinks, then lunch at 1.00 pm.

Please reply to Mary Egley if you wish to attend the lunch - mary@egley.net - no later than 9 September 2023.

Our last day of winter play was marked by a special  occasion - a baby shower for new players Anwer Rahi and Sadaf Khadim, who are awaiting the arrival of their first baby soon.

The baby shower was a first for our club, and much nicer than the usual variety of shower. Quite a large number of winter players were present to enjoy the morning tea and giving of gifts to welcome the new baby.

Very best wishes, Sadaf and Anwer!
